DOMINION FORECAST General Situation An anti-cyclone covers New Zealand with its centre east of the Cook Strait. A depression is advancing from Australia onto the Western Tasman Sea, where conditions are disturbed, also near Norfolk Island. Forecast Winds—North-east to northerly, light to moderate mainly but freshening, especially in the far north, where gales are possible later. Seas (New Zealand waters)—Slight to moderate, but rising north of East Cape and later about Cook Strait. Eastern Tasman Sea—North-east to northerly winds, strong in the northern portion, with rather rough to rough. Seas, light to moderate but freshening. Elsewhere slight to moderate but rising. Weather—lsolated rains at first in parts of the North Island, but otherwise fair to fine, gradually clouding over to-morrow in the northern and far southern districts, and later rain developing; temperatures warm. Ashburton: Bright sunshine was enjoyed yesterday, and although there was a brisk wind from the east, conditions were pleasant and settled. Geraldine: Bright sunshine and warm conditions continued throughout yesterday with a north-easterly wind. Temuka: Wide differences between the maximum and the minimum temperatures were registered yesterday. The highest was 64 degrees and the lowest 30. There were two degrees of frost. The day was bright and sunny with a fresh south-easterly breeze.
