DEAREST LITTLE PEOPLE,

Like most of you I went to the Show last Saturday. * I enjoyed every moment of my stay—didn’t you? Shows are * such varied things. It is not necessary to stand or sit still, "i You just wander aimlessly until you meet someone you want ’ to chat to; or you discover a side-show that will not let you '■ ■ pass; a Wonderful beast demands your admiration; perhaps . ' a clever new machine displays the clever things it can do to ’ ’ paddocks. • ; Certainly Shows are instructive things. Even those ' ’ of us who belong to farms and feel we know all about animals, < • discover most interesting beasts. Our Dobbin is a respectable ’ horse—hard-working, docile, and generally a credit to Dad; * ’ but for all that, even if we tied his tail in ribbons, he ivould * ■ not be, I am sorry to say, a match for those aristocrats who * proudly join in the Grand Parade. Daisy, too, and the pei * ’ lambs, are all very well in their way; but for sheer beauty • ; of animal loveliness they hardly compare with the proud < I creatures that display their tickets of merit. Yet, of course, J our old friends back on the farm can make up in friendliness ; ‘ for the gaudiness that the others display in the Show Ring. < J Shows are friendly things. If you go to a concert ' ■ and suddenly see somebody you like, you must sit still. It < > would never do to disturb the performance. At the Show > it does not matter if a hunter is showing his paces, or if the ' • Band is playing; you can, if you wish, chat to a friend or ■ . argue the merits of a tractor with a salesman. Yes, even the ‘ I exhibits themselves are often anxious to be friendly. • Tell me what you liked most at the Show next time ’ • you write. < I Love to You All, ■ : FROM If OUR OWN ' I ! : 2 : > P.S.—Don’t forget that all your contributions for our I ’ Adventure Number must reach me by Next Saturday.— ‘ > pp - :
