A BABY FOR A SCHOOL

The world is teeming with new ideas on education, but surely one of the most interesting is being tried out in a school at Bloemfontein, where a baby has been adopted by the health and domestic classes! The school has successfully brought up one child already, so that the classes knew what they were undertaking. This baby is a boy. The girls are taught to look after him, and great care is taken that he does not get spoilt by so many "mothers.” A cow was bought the other day when he needed more milk, the animal being useful also for nature study classes. This novel experiment of adopting a baby caused quite a stir among the delegates of a Red Cross Conference in Johannesburg.
