Mrs W. A. Piddington, Irvine Street, is visiting Christchurch. Mrs R. A. Holdgate, Park Lane, is the guest of Mrs D. Bj Halliday, Christchurch, for race week. Miss True Neill, Dunedin, is staying with Mrs P. A. Elworthy, Gordon's Valley. M?r and Mrs Brian Savill, Raincliff, are visitors to Christchurch for Cup week. Mr and Mrs L. Edyvean will leave to-day to spend Carnival Week in Christchurch. Mr and Mrs J. W. Fair, Douglas Street, left yesterday to attend the races in Christchurch. Miss Dorothy Walton, Park Lane, who is in a visit to England will leave to-day on her return to New Zealand. Miss Betty Stephens, South School House, Timaru, who has been visiting Christchurch and Ashburton, returned home yesterday. x Miss Rewa Tulloch of the nursing staff of the Timaru Hospital is spending her annual leave at her home at Ashburton. Mrs Drummond, Hawke’s Bay, who has been staying with her mother, Mrs Thomson, Bidwill Street, returned home yesterday. Miss Nancy Thomson has returned from a visit to Pukaki. Mr and Mrs A. J. Bridgewater and Miss Fay Bridgewater, Christchurch, returned home yesterday after a trip to Great Britain. Miss Joy Bridgewater has remained in England. The youngest player in any symphony orchestra in the United States of America is 16-year-old Betty Atkinson, star violinist rf the Pittsburgh Orchestra. Miss Atkinson went to London last month to complete her musical studies there.
