WANGANUI SENTENCES By Telegraph—Press Association WANGANUI, November 4 Mr Justice Quilliam sentenced prisoners at the Supreme Court as follows: Thomas Robert McCallum, attempted theft, two years’ probation, the prisoner to take out a prohibition order. Alan Duward Carlton, misappropriation of money, two years’ probation, and ordered to make restitution. Frederick Charles Hamiin, bieaking, entering and theft, borstal for two yearr. Cecil Harold Lewis, negligently driving a motor car and causing bodily harm., was fined £3O, and to pay the costs of the prosecution, £4l/14/2. Charles Neil Neilson, attempting to do bodily harm by an explosive substance. formally sentenced to two years’ hard labour. His Honour said he had thought of making arrangements to have the prisoner, aged 62, sent to the Salvation Army home, blit in view of a letter he had written to his wife, he could not allow him liberty. The Judge added that he would make representations to the proper authorities to have the prisoner’s case dealt with. A sentence of five years’ imprisonment, with hard labour, was passed on Nataki Rukena for negligently driving a car in a state of intoxication, causing death.
