FORESTERS LODGE Sympathy with the relatives of the late Bros. L. A. O’Loughlin and W. Walton (Geraldine) was expressed at the November meeting’ of “Court Progress No. 6732. The passing of Bro. L. A. O'Loughlin, who was a respected member of the Order during the last 20 years, was a great shock to members. In the absence of the Chief Rangei. Bro. A. Elder Bro. B. Hutton presided. The secretary reported that two members had declared on and one member off the sick funds. Sick pay amounting to £5 and accounts for £l3/2/9 were passed for payment. RECORD RAINFALL Rain on four days during October accounted for the total of 2.57 inches, the heaviest monthly total during this month for four years. The total rainfall for the ten months of this year, 29.90 inches, compares with 16.90 inches during the same period in 1936, an increase of 13 inches this year. In ten months the rainfall this year already exceeds one of the heaviest yearly falls of 28 ii ches in 1936 by almost two inches. The heaviest fall dining last month was 2.10 inches on the 23rd. Further daily recordings were: 10th, 17 points; 16th. 10 points; 28th. 20 points. During October. 1937, 13 points of rain fell, 1936. 46 points, 1935. 1.64 inches. HEALTH STAMP COMMITTKK The efforts of the St. Andrews Health Stamp Committee met with considerable success when a card evening was arranged to assist the sales of health stamps in the district. The function was held in the Public hall and attracted a large attendance. The evening proved most enjoyable. Sales of stamps to the value of £2/6/- were made. As a result of a decision to encourage the sales of health stamps it was intimated that a special appeal was being made to further the sales during the present month. Members of the district were asked to make this effort as widely known as possible. PERSONAL Miss D. Bell who has joined the nursing staff at the Timaru Hospital commenced duties this week. Mr and Mrs J. Newbegin have returned after spending holidays at Opawa, Christchurch.
