GERALDINE SERVICE JEWEL

Oddfellow for Sixty Years Honour Conferred On Mr G. H. Patrick Further interest is added to the honour conferred on Mr G. H. Patrick, who recently was presented with a jewel for 60 years’ membership in the Independent Order of Oddfellows. This jewel is probably the first to be issued in Australia or New Zealand. The Grand-Secretary of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand has forwarded to Victoria Lodge, Geraldine, an excerpt from a letter received from the GrandSecretary of the Grand Lodge of Australasia. The excerpt reads: “I regret delay in forwarding this jewel, but as I advised in my earlier letter, this is the first occasion I have been called upon to supply the numeral 60. You might extend congratulations to Bro. Patrick on behalf of the Grand Lodge of Australasia for his long membership and service.” RABBIT NUISANCE EXTERMINATION COMMITTEE A rabbit extermination committee has been formed by settlers in the Rangitata Gorge in the Geraldine County.
