RAILWAY TRADESMEN
BIENNIAL CONFERENCE By lelegraph Press Association WELLINGTON, November 2. The biennial conference of the New Zealand Railway Tradesmen’s Association, which began its session yesterday, is being attended by delegates throughout the Dominion. Conference recorded its appreciation of the victory of the Labour Government at the recent elections, special reference being made to the success of Mr H. E. Combs, who has been closely associated with the Tradesmen’s Association during the last 12 years. Conference spent a good deal of time during the first day dealing with the railway tradesmen’s rates of pay, and the earliest possible arrangement Is being made with the Government to obtain their decision regarding the claim for Increased wages. Representatives of the Boilermakers’ Federation met the conference when the dilution question was fully considered and it was decided to take appropriate action to protect the interests of skilled men concerned.
