PLEASANT VALLEY

FINE ACHIEVEMENT With the official opening of the new tennis court at Pleasant Valley, a further and important step will be taken in the direction of increasing the popularity of tennis in the district. The court, which is probably the first of its kind in South Canterbury, is finished in green concrete, with the lines set in, in white concrete. The work represents the continued effort of about 18 months, during which time members have assisted in raising about £7O. Since the court was available for play it has aroused enthusiastic comment by visiting players, and the club is assured of a new lease of life, as with the additional playing area, it can cater for a greatly increased membership. The club wishes to express its appreciation of the assistance given by all who have assisted in raising funds, the Geraldine County Council and its officers, the Employment Board repre- I sented by Mr E. C. J. Foote, Mr M. | Watson for gratuitous advice and ser- | vice, and Morrison Bros, for arranging for the supply of material. The club also extends its thanks to < all others who have assisted in any way.
