VICTIMS OF NAZI CAMPAIGN
Pitiable Plight of Poles Mass Expulsions from Germany Straining Relations in Europe United Press Association—By Telegraph --Copyright LONDON, October 31. The Warsaw correspondent of “The Times” reports that the city seethes with resentment at the cruelty accompanying the mass expulsions. The newspapers are prohibited from reporting the admissions to Poland, but this has been defeated by the populace’s contact with the deportees whose penniless and homeless destitution tells its own story. One said: "Our only hope is to be allow'ed to return to the hell from whence we have just come.” Relief workers are doing their best to alleviate distress. A nationalist newspaper declares that Poland must not permit the reconstruction of Europe purely for Germany’s benefit. The present situation is straining German-Polish relations. Jews numbering 12,600 now in Poland as a result of the mass arrests in Germany may be allowed to return. Thousands Marooned It is reported from Prague that 4000 Jews, who were marooned in no-man’s-land, have been re-admitted to Czechoslovakia. They are living in a Brno factory building and they have not been granted citizenship. HOMES IN AUSTRALIA PLANNED FOR JEWISH REFUGEES United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright LONDON, October 31. The Berlin correspondent of the Australian Associated Press reports that the newspapers are carrying advertisements from the NorthGerman Lloyd Company announcing that the steamer Berlin is making a special trip to Australia from Bremen on December 19 with only Jewish emigrants.
