Mr M. F. Vlgeveno, the newly-appointed ViceConsul for the Netherlands at Wellington, has arrived Mr S. F. Du Plessis, South Africa, evangelist and lecturer, arrived in Wellington on Saturday in tho Awatea. Mr Peter Barr, of Dunedin, a former chairman of the Public Service Appeal Board, and a pastpresident of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, has returned from a visit to Sydney. Mr A. H. Cockayne, Director-General of Agriculture, who has been on an official visit abroad, expects to leave England on November 20 on his return to New Zealand. Mr F. R. Schroff, of Auckland, has been appointed senior assistant dental surgeon to the Wellington Hospital Board, and Mr J. A. Gaudin, also of Auckland, has been appointed a dental officer under the board. The Rev. J. S. Somerville, a licentiate of the Presbyterian Church, who left Dunedin 15 months ago for further study in England and Scotland, has returned. During his visit he attended Westminster College, Cambridge, and St. Mary’s College, St. Andrew’s, as well as the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in Edinburgh. The Rev. Clyde Carr, M.P., left for the North Island by last evening’s steamer express to order to participate in the Labour Party’s caucus which is set down to open to-morrow. At the conclusion of the caucus, Mr Carr will make a 1 tour of the North Island, visiting centres in a private capacity, and in all probability will not return to Timaru till the end of November or the beginning of December.
