Malaki Rokena was found guilty on three counts, namely negligently driving of a motor vehicle, driving in a state of intoxication thereby causing death, and failing to stop after an accident. The jury added a rider that in the opinion of the jury the enforcement of the Licensing Act in supplying liquor to motorists was very lax, and that the matter should be brought to the notice of the nroner authorities
