ST. JOHN S LADIES’ GUILD Mrs L. A. Barnes presided over a meeting of the St. John's Ladies’ Guild. It was agreed to held over a suggestion of a mystery stall for another year. It was decided to leave the prizes for the fancy dress parade to the decision of the judge. The Rev. Canon i. H. Morris is to be asked to judge the Guy Fawkes competition. Cadet V. Bunce was authorised to take charge of the children for the parade. Mesdames L. A. Barnes and J. C. South were hostesses. TENNIS Pleasant Valley beat Winchester by 9 sets to 7 in the B grade competition for the Towr and Country Shield. The scores were (Winchester names first) Women’s singles: Miss M. De Renzy 6 beat Miss M. Webb 5; Mrs R. Armstrong 3 lost to Miss M. Brophy 6; Mrs J. A. P. Worthington 5 lost to Miss E. Padgett 6; Miss J. Currie 6 beat Miss T. Brophy 1. Men’s singles: D. Pearce 6 beat T. Webb 5; Hlginbottom 5 lost to J. Leary 6; J. Maudsley 2 lost to H. Worner 6; J. R. Campbell 3 lost to R. Worner 6. Women’s doubles: Miss De Renzy and Mrs Worthington 4 lost to Misses Webb and Brophy 6; Mrs Worthington and Miss Currie 6 beat Misses Padgett and T. Brophy 4. Men’s doubles: Pearce and Higinbottom 6 beat Webb and Leary 5: Maudsley and Campbell 1 lost to H. Warner and R. Worner 6.
