Mr R. A. Donaldson, secretary of the Wanganui A. and P. Association, has been appointed secretary of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce. Dr A. G. Bell, until 12 months ago resident medical officer at the Waipukurau Hospital, has returned to New Zealand after studying for his post-graduate degree in England. Major D. H. Stocker, formerly of Wellington, has relinquished his appointment as Deputy Judge Advocate-General with the British Forces in Palestine and Transjordania. He is now at the War Office, London, in the Advocate-General’s Department. Advice has been received of the appointment of Mr A. G. C. Deuber as assistant to His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, at Wellington, in succession to Mr T. G. A. Muntz, who left the Dominion last January. Mr Deuber is expected to arrive in Wellington about the middle of November, states a Press Association message. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Kennel Club, the following officers were elected:—President, Mr Norman Wade; executive, Messrs E. T. Sinclair (Napier), D. D. Wilson (Hamilton), J. Soler (Taumarunui), W. M. Jack (Christchurch), A. G. Betts (Nelson), Dr G. F. V. Anson (Lower Hutt) and Dr A. C. McKillop (Christchurch). It was decided to hold the next annual meeting at Lower Hutt in September.

Lord Beatty, who has made an excellent recovery from his accident in February, was to have left by the Aquitania on October 19 on a voyage round the world in the hope that it will complete his convalescence. Lady Beatty was to accompany him. Lord Beatty is chairman of the Navy League, and will take the opportunity of visiting the league’s branches in New Zealand and Australia. Christmas and the New Year will be spent crossing the Pacific. Lord and Lady Beatty are due to arrive at Auckland on January 9. After a tour through New Zealand they will go on to Australia and finally will leave that country on March 6 for England, arriving there in the Spring of 1939.
