ORGANISATION DISCUSSED By Telegraph —Pres? Association WELLINGTON, October 28. The organisation now in train to bring the Physical Welfare and Recreation Act into full operation was discussed at an interesting gathering held to-day in the. Ministerial rooms at Parliament House of the Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. W. E. Parry). The gathering was arranged principally to meet Mr E. W. Herbert, 8.P.E., director of the Leadership Training College of Physical Education and Recreation, Sydney. Among others present, in addition to Mr Parry, were Mr N. T. Lambourne (Director of Education), Mr J.
' . Heenan, C.B.E. (Under-Secretary of Internal Affairs), Messrs A. S. Falconer, R. M. Brasted, Mason V. Jones (of the Y.M.C.A. executive), C. R. Bach and W. A. Jameson (of the Physical Welfare branch of the Department of Internal Affairs). Discussion took the form of an exchange of views on what was being done in New Zealand and Australia, and other parts of the world, to provide for physical training and recreation.
Mr Parry said he hoped in the course of the next few weeks to be in a position to publish a layout of the schemes under the legislation initiated at meetings of the National Council of Physical Welfare and Recreation. “The pace at which interest is growing in the work,” the Minister said, “is more than a delight to me, as is also the assistance I am receiving from those who recognise the value and importance of fit people.”
