KENNEL CLUB

Fifth Annual Show

Pedigree Dogs Exhibited

Although there was a slight decline in the number of entries, which total 140 dogs in 163 classes, at the fifth annual show conducted under the auspices of the South Canterbury Kennel Club which commenced at the Timaru Showgrounds yesterday, the quality of the exhibits more than compensated for the fewer numbers. There is no apparent explanation for the decrease, which is regarded as being merely an ordinary fluctuation such as is experienced by most show organisations.

Fanciers have shown an increased interest in the bulldog and cocker spaniel sections which are larger than at- previous shows. A daeshund dog and bitch, which were imported by the owner, attracted much attention, as this German breed is extremely rare throughout the Dominion, and by their melancholy expression they appeared to be wishing that they were under Nazi rule.
