SEADOWN

PRESENTATION OF CUPS A short ceremony was held at the Seadown School recently, when Mr A. G. Davey, president of the Schools' Agricultural Clubs, accompanied by Mesdames Davey, Wareing, Buchan and Barnett, of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, presented the cups and certificates won by the pupils. Members of the School Committee and parents were also present. Mr Davey congratulated the school on the work done in the various projects, and on the number who showed keenness in displaying their work. Mrs Wareing (president) presented the W.D.F.U. Cup to Norma Fitzgerald, and a miniature cup was also donated and presented by Mrs Barnett, secretary. Certificates of special merit were presented as follows: —Flower Growing: Jean Dunnett, Joan Pemberton, Norma Fitzgerald. Calf Rearing: John Hewson, Jean Hewson, Sylvia Seyb, Harry Hewson. Chicken Rearing: John Hewson. Norma Fitzgerald, Mary Hedley, Beryl Hughes, Graham Ward. Potato Growing: Richard Oldfield, Graham Ward, Ivan Hedley. Mr R. J. Edgar (chairman) and Mr Ward expressed thanks to the visitors and to the Women's Division for their interest in the work of the children.

TENNIS DANCE A very bright function was held in the Seadown School on Monday last as a finish to the Labour Day tournament. All the proceeds are to go towards the topdressing of the two courts which are to be done shortly. During the evening a traffic-cop dance was won by Mr F. Smith and Miss G. Brosnahan. Mr R. J.
