COMMUNAL HALL
TRIBUTE TO PIONEERS By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, October 27. As a contribution to the city’s centennial programme, the Jewish community of Auckland are making arrangements for the erection of a communal hall on the most westerly section of land in the cemetery reserve in Karangahape Road. The hail is intended to serve as a permanent memorial to those Jewish pioneers who were among the early settlers of New Zealand 100 and more years ago. The site for the hall has never been used as a burial ground. It is proposed to spend about £3500 upon the hall, and already £3OOO is in the hands of the committee which has been placed in charge of the scheme. Construction will be commenced about March of next year.
