TRYING TO KILL CAT

MAN CAUSES OWN DEATH An inquest was held at Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, on a man who, it was stated, accidentally killed himself while trying to destroy a cat. He was Reginald John Drummond Drummond, aged 32, a retired flight lieutenant in the Royal Air Force, of Sawbridgeworth. Evidence was given that in trying to kill the cat, after shooting but only wounding it, Drummond struck at the animal with the butt of his gun. The gun broke in two and went off, shooting Drunmmond in the thigh. Mrs Margaret Drummond, aged 24, the widow, said that her husband had been annoyed by cats. She went out with him into a field near her home. He waved her to go back, which she did. A few moments later she heard a shot. A verdict of misadventure was recorded.
