SOUTH OTAGO FREEZING COMPANY The annual report of the South Otago Freezing Company, Ltd., states: The stock dealt with during the season 1938 was as follows: —Sheep and lambs, 317, 223; cattle, 298; pigs, 620. After making provision for depreciation and transferring £9OOO to reserve for income tax the profit remaining, including last year’s balance, is written off. The directors’ recommend the payment of a dividend at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum, which will absorb £6,630/10/- and that the balance of £10,183/10/11 be carried forward. CANTERBURY CENTRAL CO-OP. DAIRY COY. The balance sheet of the Canterbury Central Co-operative Dairy Coy., Ltd., shows a credit balance of £39,127/3/10 for distribution after allowing £1,457/7/10 for depreciation and £750 of the rationalisation account had ! i written off. The directors’ recommendations were as follows:—That a final payment of 3 l-8d per lb be made to all suppliers of butterfat during the year; that a dividend of 5 per cent, be paid on the subscribed capital. An increase of 368 tons of butter manufactured was recorded. The weight of butter made from each lb of butterfat received was 111241 b.
