BAIL REFUSED

WOMAN BEFORE COURT By Telegraph—Pres? Association WELLINGTON. September 29. Bail was refused Marjorie Pickering, aged 42, a married woman, charged before Mr J. H. Stout, S.M., with unlawfully using an instrument with intent to procure a certain result. Detective-Sergeant Doyle, opposing it, said the girl concerned was not quite 20. He could remember only one case in his experience where the Magistrate had granted bail. He gave an assurance that the police would probably be ready to proceed next Wednesday. The Magistrate said he would refuse bail in the meantime. The accused collapsed, and had to be assisted from the dock.
