Brews’ intention of playing in America and A. D. Locke's decision to visit Austr lia meant a severance of their business relationship. Locke told a reporter in London, “Tills is all nonsense. When Syd. and I left South Africa we had a contract which covered only the golf we play in England. That contract expired on August 15. There is no suggestion at all that Syd. and I have ceased to be the great friends we have always been.” Caddie’s Interest A caddie became so wrapped up in his player’s game that sometimes -is advice and remarks cause much amusement. Overheard, during the recent women’s Open, when an opponent exploded out of a hunger dead on the flag: “Gee, I’ll bet she’s been saving that shot up all her life.” The same lad, giving his player advice: “Go up and slam into it, and don’t forget to ’it it ’ard.”
