MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB At the final shoot of the Orari Ladies' Miniature Rifle Club, the gold button was won by Mrs J. A. Henderson, while Miss K. Gilder won the silver button. The winner of the season’s aggregate prize was Mrs J. A. Henderson, while Mr Burnett’s prize for runner-up was won by Mrs W. Watson. The scores were: Mrs J. A. Henderson 80, Mrs W. Watson 79, Miss M. Mason 77 Mrs L. Henderson 72, Miss N. Rooney 71, Miss K. Gilder 76, Miss D. Beeby 70, Mrs F. M. Priddle 70. SCHOOL COMMITTEE At a special meeting of householders called by the Education Board on Monday evening in the Orari School there was an attendance of 37. Mr W. E. Payne, the retiring chairman, outlined the trouble regarding the resignation of the committee and then asked Mr Cone, secretary, to read the balance-sheet, which showed a credit of £22/15/3. The meeting then proposed that Mr A. Kibblewhite preside as chairman for the meeting. From nine nominations the following committee was elected: Mrs W. Hughes, Mr H. A. Brenton, Mr A. Henderson, Mr O. W. Smith, Mr J. B. Cone. At a meeting held immediately afterwards Mr Cone was appointed chairman and Mrs Hughes secretary.
