After ten years’ research, Professor Engledow has discovered a new wheat, believed to be superior to any of Britain’s varieties. Five crops provided a yield of 10 per cent, higher than the best of other varieties. The straw is six inches shorter, and is also stouter, while the grain is highly resistant to rust and disease. Professor Frank Leonard Engledow is a Fellow of St. John’s College, Cambridge, and Draper's Professor of Agriculture at Cambridge University. In the years 1918-19, he was Assistant Director of Agriculture in Mesopotamia.
