Japan merely asserted that she would act against foreigners impeding her military operations. Four British gunboats are standing by. At least 100 British naval men are proceeding to Hankow to patrol the foreign areas. The Shanghai correspondent of "The Tinies” reports that Chinese guerillas carried out a night raid on Namoa Island, killing a number of Japanese and capturing much equipment. They also captured the Chinese puppet I leader and followers, who have been taken to Swatow for trial. Japanese Raise Siege The Japanese announce that they have raised the siege in three towns in South Shansi where the garrisons, who were cut off lor two months, ate mules, cats and dogs to reinforce their scanty rations from aeroplanes.
