SIMPLE TASTES
PL A Y WRIGHT’S PREFERE NCE LONDON. June 20. A young man who for the last six months has been earning £250 a week in Hollywood and who arrived in London recently, to find £7OOO waiting for him in royalties, has re-installed himself in a small three-roomed flat on the top floor of an office building in the Adelphi. “I’ve lived here for seven years, and here I’m going to stay,” says Eric Maschwitz, ex-8.8.C. official, now turned playwright.
“I took this flat when I was earning about £5OO a year, and however much money I make, this will always be my home.”
