COMING OF AGE PARTY
Mrs A. L. Ede was hostess at a most enjoyable coming-of-age party in honour of her daughter Betty. The table decorations were carried out in a lilac colour scheme, violets and winter iris being most artistically arranged. A novel idea was the autographing by all present of the gold key presented to the guest. A tap dance was given by Miss Ada Hawke, songs and ukelele solos by Mr A. Butcher, and items by Messrs W. Burns and B. Brown. A lucky spot waltz was was won by I’rs A. L. Ede and Mr A. Butcher. The guests present included: Mr and Mrs W. Burns, Mrs A. L. Ede, Mr and Mrs A. Millar, Mr and Mrs J. Alexander, Mr and Mrs L. McLaughlan, Mrs Home, Misses A. Hawke, J. Gay, D. Strachan, Raynor, G. Gaffaney, C. Hall and the guest of honour Miss Betty Ede. Messrs J. Mee (R.A.F. Trentham), W. Burns, A. Bailey, D. Bailey, F. Shaw (Christchurch), J. Hutchison, S. Smith, S. McLean, D. McConachy, B. Brown, E. Henderson, Raynor, Mackay, A. Butchers, A. Aikenhead (Oamaru).
