SOUTHBURN
FAREWELL DANCE Miss Wanaka Pye, who has left for Wellington, was recently the guest of the young people of Southburn. The evening was spent in dancing, for which music was supplied by Messrs G. and F. Hoare, assisted by Misses M. Evans, and R. Chamberlain. Songs were contributed by Mr D. Chamberlain. After supper, Mr R. Parry, on behalf of the Tennis Club, spoke of the qualities of the guest of honour, and presented her with a manicure set. Miss E. Kinross, on behalf of the Basketball Club, also spoke and made a presentation of a crystal perfume bottle. Mr L. Pye returned thanks for his sister.
Those present included Mr and Mrs R. Parry, Mr and Mrs C. J. Ward, Mr and Mrs Rupert Parry, Mrs S. Pye.

EUCHRE PARTY A successful euchre party was recently held by the school committee in aid of the school funds. The winners of the prizes were Miss R. Chamberlain and Mr D. Chamberlain.
