WINTER SHOW
TECHNICAL SCHOOL EXHIBIT BOARD DISCUSSION “If you want a proper educational exhibit at the next show, you will have to forego a certain amount of revenue and you will have to let people know a little earlier so that they can go ahead and prepare theii' exhibit.” These remarks were made by Mr G. Benstead, chairman of the Technical College Board of Managers, at last night's meeting of the Board, when discussing the recent show.
Mrs . Unwin asked the Principal (Mr F. L. N. Tuck) whether the school exhibit had been in the nature of an experiment, and he replied that the school had been held up because definite advice could not be obtained as to the size or location of the stand. At the two previous shows, the exhibit had been made to take the place of the annual display, but the date of the show was unsuitable for the school so far as competent work was concerned; and it would be better from the point of view of the school to revert to the annual display, at which the parents could see the pupils at work.
Mr J. Palliser said that the show executive had been held up because they had not known how much space was required by the Department of Agriculture. The chairman: I would like to have something to do with the exhibit next year.
Mr Palliser: A meeting of the manual and technical section was called, and only two turned up.
Mr A. . Kinsman: Come to the annual meeting of the Association. The chairman: I will if I have any knowledge of the date. Mr Palliser: “It will be advertised.” He added that a change would probably be made In the form of the show next year and all the exhibits would be in the main building. He did not know that any special application had been made for space for the school. The Principal said that 12 months ago he had made application for the same space and same location as they had previously had. Mr Palliser said that the previous organiser had accepted another position and when he left he took all the material with him. and they had had to work under that handicap. The matter was not pursued further.
