After a week's idleness the Australians frisked gaily in the sunny Edgbaston Field.

Santail swung Waite hard to leg and the ball struck Fingleton on the head, and he retired hurt. Santail and Dollery took the score to 48, when Santail snicked O’Reilly’s leg-break and was caught at first slip.
