DUTCH-EAST INDIES TO BE REPRESENTED Bs Telegraph —Pi ess Association WELLINGTON, July The Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Mini ’ .r of Industries and Comr. rce and honorary president of the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition, announced today that he had received an intimation from the Department of Overseas Trade that there will be no objection to the participation of the Dutch East Indies in the Centennial Exhibition. Although the Centennial Exhibition has not been officially recognised as an international exhibition, which precludes the Issue of invitations to foreign governments, the Minister aid urgent representations had been made by the Consul for the Dutch East Indies for space at the Exhibition, and this was referred to the Department of Overseas Trade for consideration. Advice now received is that the Dutch colonies not being sovereign States would not bring their participaOn within the purview of the internatlo- al convention.
“It is evident,” said the Minister, “that the exhibition is attracting world-wide interest, and consideration is now being given to whether St tes in other foreign countries can ne granted exhibition space under "he same conditions as those applying to the Dutch East Indies.”
