FUNERAL OF LATE MR ROBERT MORGAN The fuperal of the late Mr Robert Morgan, who died early on Satu r day morning in his ninety-sixth year, cook place yesterday, and was largely attended. Mr Morgan, who was in business in Timaru for very many years, was the oldest ratepayer in the borough, and the large cortege was a striking testimony to the esteem in which he and the members of his family are held. A short service was conducted at St. Mary’s Church by the Ven. Archdeacon H. W. Monaghan, who also conducted the service at the graveside. The pall-bearers were six of Mr Morgan’s

grandsons, Messrs E. Morgan, S. Morgan, D. Morgan. V. Roberts, R. Wilson and F. Chapman.

The late Mr Morgan, who had a family of five sons and four daughters, was considered to be the oldest Freemason in the British Empire. He was a member of Lodge St. John for 59 years, and held office as Tyler for 45 years, which is a record for Australia and New Zealand. The members oi the family were Messrs C. G. Morgan 'Timaru), W. Morgan (Pareora), A. S. Morgan (Wellington), F. W. Morgan (Geraldine) and the late Mr R. Morgan; Mesdames A. Wilson (Timaru), A. Roberts (Dunedin) and W. Chapman (Timaru) and Miss E. L. Morgan (Timaru). There are 35 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
