“ WILL ROOT OUT ALL JEWS ”

Violent Outburst of Nazi Leader SCORN FOR REFUGEE CONFERENCE New Zealand’s Attitude Defined United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copvrlght BERLIN, July 8. Herr Alfred Rosenberg, the Nad Party mouthpiece, in an article in “The Volkischer Beobachter” ridicules the Evian Refugee Conference on the grounds that it is impossible that anyone could be concerned about such a depraved race as the Jews. He says that the Reich is determined to root out the Jews and other countries are bound to follow, for which reason the world will ultimately be confronted with from 6,000,000 to 7,000,000 refugees. Herr Rosenberg suggests that the Jews should be granted African territory such as Uganda and Madagascar.

The Berlin correspondent of “The Times” states that Herr Rosenberg did not suggest how the Jews should leave Germany when they are unable to take away their capital. It is feared that the conference will be more productive of anti-German propaganda than of outlets for the Jews, which explains the German hostility.

LITTLE HOPE OF SUCCESS CONFERENCE BADLY PLANNED United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, July 9. The Evian correspondent of “The Times” states that its insufficient preparation reveals that the refugee conference has little chance of useful results. i CAUTIOUS ATTITUDE OF NEW ZEALAND VIEWS STATED BY DELEGATE AT CONFERENCE United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received July 10, 7.30 p.m.) EVIAN, July 9.

At the Conference of Refugees, Mr Burdekin expressed the New Zealand Government’s sympathy with the unfortunates compelled to seek new homes. He pointed out that within the limits of the migration laws New Zealand had already received a limited number of refugees, and was prepared to consider applications, although it would only be by others’ acceptance also that New Zealand’s aceptance of large numbers could be anticipated. Moreover, -the number to be admitted was governed by economic conditions. He explained the migration laws and added that it was impossible to ensure that every applicant, who was unlikely to become a charge on the State, or make a useful citizen, would be accepted. The risk of the applicant burdening the public funds would be increased if he were not allowed to bring a proportion of his possessions.
