The admitting room at the Auckland Hospital, which lor many years has been cheerless and uncomfortable, furnished only with four deal forms, is being repainted, and six city firms are refurnishing it at their own expense as a gesture of goodwill towards the new Hospital Board. The chairman of the board, Mr Allen J. Moody, inspected the room a fc.v days ago. and expressed himself as being very dissatisfied, realising that those about to be admitted to the hospital gained their first impression ' ,m this uninviting room. He made up his mind to effect a transformation. Six city firms at once offered to cooperate in refurnishing the room free o.“ charge when Mr Moody made his proposal known to them. Wicker furniture of a comfortable type is to be installed. The room is now being repainted by the board's staff, and it is anticipated that at the beginning of this week the room, witn new furnishings and curtains, will present an entirely different aspect.
