CENTENNIAL ROYAL SHOW
SUB COMMITTEE’S IMPORT By Telegraph —Press Ass. -larion WELLINGTON. July 8. The report of a sub-committee regarding a proposal to hold a centennial royal show was submitted to the resumed annual meeting of the Royal Agricultural Society to-day. It was considered that the holding of such a show in 1940 in temporary buildings in or near Wellington was impracticable, and the committee also viewed unfavourably a suggestion of holding the summer shew in the autumn of 1940 at Palmerston North. The committee could recommend no practicable scheme for the holding oi a centennial show, but recommended that the Royal Show, to be held in Invercargill in 1939, be designated the Royal Centennial Show. A recommendation was made also that the committee continue and formulate a scheme for the future conduct of Royal shows, r be presented at the time of the 1938 Royal Show at Hamilton in October.
