COTTON’S WINTER TIP
One big don’t comes to mind now that the muddy lie is to be found often during the next few months. That is:— Don’t slash at the ball with your eyes closed, as though you expect a shower of mud. Correct thing to do is to try to be precise. Take your time, and decide to make an extra effort to bring the centre of the club face to the centre of the ball. Charles Whitcombe is called our best wet ground player, because he is such an accurate striker of the ball. Remember this greater call for accuracy now, and you will find that successful shots can be played from some bad-looking muddy lies.—Henry Cotton. llllllHllllllllllllillllliliii
