DANCE AND PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES

There was only a fair attendance at the wind-up dance of the Pleasant Valley Tennis Club, when trophies won during the year were presented. The president, Mr F. R. Wilks, congratulated winners of cups and thanked all those who had supported the club during the year, as a result of the generous support of those interested in the club, the financial position was very sound and it was hoped, he said, that work on the second court would be commenced in the near future. Mr H. Worner thanked all for the support given him during the year in carrying out his duties. Mrs H. Bailey after wishing the club success, presented trophies as follows.— C. W. Lynn Cup (women’s handicap singles), Miss E. Padgett; Webb Cup (men’s handicap singles), E. Webb; Wilks Cup (women’s handicap singles), Miss T. Brophy; Stringer Cup (men’s handicap singles), C. Leary; Bryant Cup (most improved woman player). Miss O. Bruce; Bryant Cup (most improved man). W. Leary. Novelty dances were won by Miss Wurm and Mr Register. Music was supplied by an orchestra, an extra being played by Miss M. Tehann. Mr T. Robinson was M.C. Those present included—Mr and Mrs H. Bailey, Mr and Mrs W. Crotty, Mr and Mrs A. Titheridge.
