BASKETBALL
SOUTHERN CLUB The annual meeting of the Southburn Basketball Club was held in the school, Mrs Turner presiding over a fair attendance of members.
The report and balance-sheet presented by the secretary, Miss A. Gibson, showed a credit balance of £3/8/2. A vote of thanks was extended to all who had assisted the club during the year especially Mr and Mrs Turner, who so capably acted at coaches and selectors.
It was decided to open the season with a friendly match again Fairview to-morrow.
The following officers were elected: president, Miss E. Kinross; vice-presi-dent, Miss M. Caird; secretary and treasurer, Miss C. Gibson; club captain, Miss M. Call’d; vice-captain, Miss A. Gibson; delegates to sub-Association, Misses M. Caird, M. Evans and C. Gibson; emergency committee, Misses E. Kinross, M. Caird and M. Evans; team selectors, captain and vice-cap-tain; committee, Misses D. Bell, M. Evans, M. Bennett.
It was decided to hold a practice on Tuesday of each week.
