COMING TO NEW ZEALAND FOR EXHIBITION The Royal robes used by Their Majesties the King and Queen of England. and some of the regalia worn bv the Royal Princesses, : re at present being exhibited to the public at the New South Wales Art Gallery, in Sydney These extremely beautiful and costly robes are all of the very best material and are hand-woven and hand-made. For example, the fine design worked on the King’s Coronation robe is handworked in real gold thread, the device being the rose, the thistle, and the shamrock. The robes are deeply bordered in selected ermine skins, and in each case there is'a cape of ermine. One of the exhibits is the Coronation glove, which is always presented to iHs Majesty on the august occasion. Included in the collection are also the coronets which were worn by the two Royal Princesses at the ceremony in Westminster Abbev, besides other interesting articles of regalia. worn on the occasion of the Coronation. Correspondence has passed between the British and New Zealand Governments concerning the robes now in Australia, and it is understood that they will come to New Zealand for exhibition later on. It is probable that where there are art "illeries ensuring safe keeping, such will be used for the display of the Royal Coronation robes in the various centres of New Zealand.
