ANDREWS GUT EVENING FOR UNFORTUNATE SETTLERS ■ To lose their home and all their worldly possessions by fire was the experience of Mr and Mrs Frank Scott, who have resided at Kohika for many years. In normal circumstances the plight of Mr and Mrs Scott would have been an unenviable one, but to make matters worse, they have four children, under the age of sLx years, to provide for. Following the loss of their home on February 27, Mr and Mrs Scott and their children have been cared for by neighbours, who are now making a big effort to provide the unfortunate family with a few necessities. Towards this end the settlers of the district have in hand arrangements f >r a gift evening, which is to be held in Mr J. Sullivan’s granary, at Kohika, on Saturday, March 12. Sympathetic friends from other districts have signified their willingness to assist, and it is hoped to make the evening an outstanding success. Gifts of any description will be most welcome, and those who are unable to attend the gift | evening may leave their parcels with 1 Mr Pugh or Mr Hoskins, at St. Andrews. Failing this. Mr D. Arnst would be pleased to call for i arcels.
