WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
HUNTER There was a very good attendance of members and vistiors at the monthly meeting of the Hunter Women’s Institute. at which Mrs Neal presided. The president extended a welcome to Mrs L. E. Williams (president of the South Canterbury Federation) and Miss Davis (Woodbury), and also to the visitors and members of the Fairview Women’s Institute. Mrs Williams then addressed the meeting and reminded members of the Old English Fair to be held at Washdyke on January 22. A very interesting travel talk was given by Miss Davies. Both speakers were accorded a vote of thanks and were the recipients of a posy of flowers. An autograph competition was won by Miss T. Neal.
The monthly competitions, which were judged by Mrs Williams and Miss Davies resulted as follows: Bloom, Mrs McKenzie 1, Mrs Prattley 2. Best hearted lettuce, Mrs Turner 1, Mrs Prattley 2.
