Messrs H. E. Windle (Gore), T. O’Connor (Milton), H. S. Bowie, D. Barker (Christchurch) and F. G. Hicks (South Australia) are registered at the Dominion.
Dr. John Hammond, a prominent English expert on animal diseases, arrived by the Aorangi to report to the New Zealand Government on diseases in stock in New Zealand.
Messrs J. C. Berridge (Gisborne), T. M. Gunderson, D. E. Selby, T. M. Brandt, C. T. Warren, G. S. Dunn (Christchurch) and H. W. Lampson (Wellington) are staying at the Empire.
The Rev. H. Gould, who for the last four years has been minister of Knox Presbyterian Church, Fitzroy, has been appointed to the change of Mangapapa-Kaiti, Gisborne.
The Rev. J. N. Goodman, vicar of Wakatlpu, has been appointed vicar of the Taiero Plains parochial district. The Rev. J. C. Fussell, of Waimate North, will take over the charge of the Wakatipu district.
Mr C. R. Grant, who has been employed by Dalgety and Co., Ltd., in their wool department for the last four years, has accepted a position with the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., as manager of its wool department.
Messrs Ernest MacDonald (Fairlie), W. F. Kennedy (Seadown) and W. H. Staniland (Clandeboye) have been appointed provisional directors representing Ward B on the Board of Directors of the Ashburton Co-operative Dairy Factory Company. Limited.
Mr W. H. Millward has accepted appointment as an advisory director on the local board of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency during the absence from New Zealand of Sir George Elliott. Mr Frank Bushell, superintendent for New Zealand of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, has been appointed a local director by the London board of the company.
The Hon. Hugh Main, Minister of Agriculture in New South Wales, who is doing the round trip to New Zealand by the Otranto, spent yesterday morning at Parliament Buildings meeting the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, and the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash. Mr Main is merely malting a holiday trip to New Zealand and enjoying the scenery and contacts he is making with New Zealanders.
Two members of the Canadian House of Commons, Mr L. F. G. Sanderson, Deputy Speaker, and Dr. J. R. Hurtubise, are through passengers for Sydney by the Aorangi which arrived from Vancouver yesterday. They will remain in the Commonwealth for about a month and will officially represent the Canadian Government at the Australian sesquicentennial celebrations. Mr Sanderson and Dr. Hurtubise both come from Ontario, representing the constituencies of St. Mary’s and Sudbury respectively. This is their first visit to Australia and New Zealand.
