CANADIAN TEAM EN ROUTE By Telegraph—Pres? Association AUCKLAND, January 10 The Canadian Empire Games party, numbering 95, of which 80 are actual competitors, are through passengers by the Aorangi. The manager, Mr M. M. Robinson, who was the founder of the Games and in the last 10 years has managed two Olympic and three Empire Games teams, said Canada had raised 60,000 dollars to send a team to Australia, of which the Government provided 12,000 dollars. “Never in my wildest dreams," said Mr Robinson, “did I think we would extend the Games to the farthest away Dominions. There will be 5000 athletes competing at Sydney.” He expressed a hope that the Games would be brought to New Zealand, but he did not think that would be possible for the centenary in 1940.
