A POLL of the ratepayers will be taken on the 9th February. 1938. upon the proposal to raise a loan of £72,300 for the purpose of laying a line of pipes from a dam to be constructed in the Cannington Gorge to the existing reservoirs, and for the purpose of improving the existing reticulation. The security for such loan will be a special rate of .603 d. in the £ on the unimproved value of the rateable property in the Borough of Timaru, the rate of interest permitted by the Loans Board will be 3i per cent per annum and the loan will be repaid in eleven annua] instalments of £llOO each in 1939 and 1940, £l2OO each In 1941 and 1942, £l3OO each in 1943 and 1944. £l4OO each in 1945, 1946 and 1947. £l5OO in 1948 and £59,400 in 1949.
