A “PEEPING TOM”

Association CHRISTCHURCH, January 10. “It looks like a case of a straight-out •Peeping Tom’,” said Senior-Sergeant Felton, when Clarence John Larsen appeared in the Magistrate’s Court this morning before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M., charged with that on January 9. he was found wi-hout lawful excuse on ; premises in St. Asaph Street. He pleaded guilty. Neighbours in the vicinity weie disturbed on the night in question as they saw Larsen moving up and down in the street and loitering around, said Senior-Sergeant Felton. About midnight he was seen to entsr and look through a window, anticipating that the occupants were about to retire. When he left the premises he was intercepted by two of the neighbours, who held him until a constable arrived. Larsen had pleaded that he was a married man with two children, ’ and offered £5 if they would let the matter drop. Larsen was actually a single man. "The Court is not very patient with these offences, in fact it is almost harsh.” commented the Magistrate. In view of liis record the Magistrate said he would not send Larsen straight tn gaol. He imposed a fine of 210 and costs, in default three months’ imprisonment.
