NATIONAL FLOWER SHOW
WAIMATE ENTRY WITHDRAWN The Waimate Horticultural Society has decided to withdraw its entry for the district bay competition at the forthcoming National Flower Show at Christchurch. This step has been taken because of difficulty in securing sufficient assistance to erect the bay and display the exhibits. “It is a disappointment to the Society to have to take this step,” said the president (Mr W. Clark) in an interview yesterday. Two people whose assistance has been counted on were away from the district, two were indisposed and others were unable to make the trip. The season had not been altogether unfavourable, Mr Clark said, and the Society had been looking forward to making a creditable showing..
