WRESTLING
COMPETITORS BANNED IN AFRICA United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copyright CAPTOWN, January 7. Two wrestlers, Abe Morris and Rudy Shards, have been notified that their six months’ permit to stay in South Africa has not been renewed, and that of a third, Hank Oswald, has only been renewed on condition that he neither wrestles nor promotes matches. The Commissioner of Police considers that all-in wrestling is leading to degeneration of the sport, and that the dirty tactics incite and brutalise the public. He forecasts legislation subjecting wrestling to control similar to that of boxing.
