The consistent Newcastle horse Valbeau, carrying topweight. 9.6, won the Peter Moore Cup of one mile from Journal and Jocular. Hope won the Moorefield Handicap narrowly from Celebrate and Musk Deer. Housemaster was third in the Flying Welter Handicap, first division.
