REVISED SYLLABUS A new series, of pharmacy’ regulations made under the Pharmacy Act, 1908, was gazetted on December 22 ar 4 came into force on the first day 7 of this year. The new regulations, which supersede many other sets of regulations dating as far back as 1901, provide in the first place for the election of members of the Pharmacy Board and the registrar and deputy registrars, but this part makes no changes of importance. The second part of the regulations lays down the new syllabus for the examinations conducted by the board. The chief purpose of the revision is to bring the syllabus up to date and to keep it abreast of the advances that are continually being made in the sciences with which it is concerned. The purpose has also been kept in view of bringing the requirements in New’ Zealand into harmony with the accepted standards in Australia and in England, thus facilitating reciprocity among chemists throughout the Empire. A necessary result of the revision is a raising of the standard and a widening of the field of knowledge with which those entering the profession are required to be familiar. A new feature of the syllabus is its provision of a special diploma of fellowship to be won by passing advanced examinations and by special research work. The holders will be entitled to use the initials “F.P.S. (N.Z.).”
