Hostesses in London who have for years been harassed by uninvited guests are contemplating drastic measures to abate the nuisance. Various remedies have been tried without success, and now after many complaints to the police, legal advisers have decided that gate-crashers could be successfully prosecuted, provided they take refreshments at the parties they attend, states “The Post’s” London correspondent writing on December 15. The charge would be one of obtaining goods by false pretences, on the implied pretence that they were invited guests. There is a likelihood that cases may be brought on this charge shortly.
